Scenario: Mr. John, an elder in your community, said that he does not have to keep the laws to get into heaven. He also thinks that Jesus Christ was a white man.
Using the scriptures, Prove to him;
- That we MUST keep the laws.
- That Christ was a black man.
- We MUST keep the laws.
Did you know that refusal to keep the laws of God was the reason Israel went into slavery so many times and have been plagued with curses? It sounds wrong, but Deuteronomy 28:15-68 details it all. 53 verses telling us what would happen to us if we do not keep the commandments of God.
Our unwillingness to keep the laws of God is the reason Jesus, in Matthew 7:14, said “Because strait is the gate, (meaning the laws are final and there is no way around them) and narrow is the way, (meaning these laws are holy and spiritual and will not be the popular choice) which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 19:17, where a man asked Jesus how he could access eternal life, Jesus said “and he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”
I know it is widely preached that we no longer have to keep the laws, and that they were done away with when Jesus came on the scene. If that were really so! How then would you explain Matthew 5:17, which reads, “think not that I am come to destroy the law, (meaning to get rid of it) or the prophets:(or nullify what Moses and the prophets taught) I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (bring all of their words to life). Right after saying he did not come to destroy the law Jesus went on to say nothing about the law will change until he returns. Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”.
We are told by the church that our goal is to live a Christ-Like life, but in John 15:10 Jesus said “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” So if Jesus himself kept the Laws of His Father, and he is our role model, why do we refuse to keep them?
The book of 1 John 2:4 reads, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” What do you really think sin is? The answer is right here in the Bible! 1John 3:4, which reads, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 6:9 said, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators – Sexually active but unmarried, nor idolaters – worship things other than God, nor adulterers – married but steps out for sexual pleasures, nor effeminate – claims to be women trapped in a male’s body, nor abusers of themselves with mankind – same sex Romans 1:26-27. Paul said the unrighteous cannot enter into heaven, that means only the righteous can!
Let us now look at what righteousness is according to the bible s as to know who a righteous person is. Deuteronomy 6:25 reads,” and it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.”
You may realize that my references are from the New testament. I deliberately did that so we may clearly see that even under the new covenant, the laws of God were still as relevant as they ever were. Jesus only got rid of the Sacrificial law, as he would take the place of the sacrifices. So the message has always been the same! Keep the laws and be saved through the grace of God.
2.The colour of Jesus’ skin.
The book of Genesis 49:8-12 prophesied that Jesus would come from the tribe of Judah. Now this is what we know about Judah from the Bible. Jeremiah 14:2 reads Judah mourneth, (in great sorry and grief) and the gates thereof languish;(their leadership fail or cannot help them) they are black unto the ground;(black like dark soil) and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up. So Judah has black people.
2 Timothy 2:8 reads Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel. We all know that King Solomon was the son of King David, but if you did not know that before now, you can check their genealogy in Matthew 1:1-18. Now let us read how Solomon described himself in Song of Solomon 1:5, which reads, I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.”
The icing on the cake really is Revelation 1:14-15, which reads, His head and his hairs were white like wool, (wool was mentioned to demonstrate texture) as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;(Red with wine Gen.49:12) And his feet like unto fine brass, (Brass is brown) as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
